Throughout the year we celebrate the love of reading and our favorite authors! Take a look at our yearly events. Each year we find even more to celebrate! Year-Long Event - 40 Book Challenge - Students in grades 3-5 are challenged to read 40 books from specific genres. Student who meet this challenge are invited to a year-end celebration. Year-Long Event - Genre Reading Passports - Every two months from September to May students are issued the challenge to read a book from six different genres. Students who meet this challenge earn the privilege of eating lunch in library at the end of the challenge. August - Summer Reading Party - Students who participate in any summer reading program bring in their summer reading log or certificate as a ticket to the party. Our past themes have been reading picnics and a Groovy Reading Disco Party. The 2017 reading party theme will be Camp Read A Lot! Student will enjoy activities and refreshments in our outdoor classroom on our nature trail. October - International Star Wars Reads Day October - Book Character Pumpkins December - Put the Year to Rest Read-A-Thon January - Geronimo Stilton Day - in honor of National Cheese Lovers Day March - Elephant and Piggie Day - in honor of National Pig Day March - Read Across America Week culminating with our Kindergarten Book Character Parade March - *NEW for 2018*- Iditaread - students read as mushers race on the Iditarod Trail April - National Poetry Month May 2016 - Harry Potter Day - to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Sorcerer's Stone.
