The MVES Literary Garden was created to introduce our students to the wonders of nature. We are the recipient of Kids Gardening's Youth Garden Grant and Captain Planet's Project Learning Garden Grant. We are also supported by The North Hall Community Education Foundation, our K-5th Garden Club members, and our local PTO. Hall County Master Gardeners partner with us to teach our students proper planting and harvesting skills as well as introduce our students to life cycle of the monarch butterfly. Our students plant and harvest fruits, vegetables, and herbs that they read about in stories like Peter Rabbit, Growing Vegetable Soup, and Jack and the Beanstalk. We have an herb garden, succulent garden, pollinator/sensory garden, vegetable garden, and fruit trees and vines. Our students learn about sustainable gardening practices through our solar powered garden shed, rain barrel collection and watering system, and composting program. Our garden is a certified Monarch Waystation and a National Wildlife Foundation Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
